American eels found at Georgia Southern University

“American Eels spawn in the Sargasso Sea out in the Atlantic,” said Biology Professor Ray Chandler, who helped organize the study. “They then move into freshwater streams and rivers. They are certainly known from our area, but it was a bit of a surprise to find them all the way up the tiny, intermittent streams that reach campus.”
